Sea shoes

"Sea Shoe" is a work in perpetual metamorphosis. Like shoes that travel, wear out, tear, or change hands, this shoe carries fragments of multiple stories, traversing projects and mediums. Born from research into crystallization, it began as a pump covered with Epsom salt and Borax, frozen in a mineral whiteness, like objects discovered in underwater wrecks. This gesture aimed to suspend time, to make the ephemeral eternal. Salt, however, evaporates, crumbles, and recalls the fragility of memory. To preserve its imprint, I molded this shoe and reproduced it in porcelain. I then experimented with a series of glazes, developed specifically to give it multiple identities. Some, encrusted with crystals, evoke the organic growth of coral; Others, more matte, pierced by craters and tarnished with muted tones, tell of erasure and disappearance. Found objects, relics, shells, or simple shoes forgotten in an abandoned room: Sea Shoe slips between temporalities, oscillating between fossilized beauty and the poetry of decline.
