Oysters

This sculptural installation offers a sensitive and playful reinterpretation of the oyster, somewhere between naturalism and ornamentation. Made from real, emptied and cleaned shells, each piece was cast in terracotta before being reproduced, paying homage to the act of consumption as much as to the shellfish itself. The exterior of the oysters retains the raw, mineral appearance of the original shells, with earthy textures, traces of oxides, and natural hues evoking marine erosion. Inside, an explosion of colorful patterns, metallic lusters, abstract designs, and glossy glazes transforms these shells into precious little jewel boxes. Some evoke hidden pearls, others fragments of decorative tableware, playing on surprise and contrast. With this series, I wanted to explore the tension between waste and art object, between the natural and the artificial. These reconstructed shells become coastal souvenirs, bearers of memory, feasting, and transformation. Oxides and glazes add a tactile and visual richness, while evoking the multiple lives that shells can take, real or reimagined.
