At Uncle Gabi's

This series draws its inspiration from a trip to Hungary, to the village of Bonyhad, where I explored the now-abandoned family home. It depicts the basement and former refuge of my uncle Gabi, my father's brother, both now deceased. In this frozen space, the objects remain as they are, silent bearers of a forgotten past. The canvases depict walls marked by humidity, covered in dust and mold, tangible signs of the passage of time and fading memories. The figure in the cap embodies my father, imbued with tenderness and vulnerability, on the cusp of Alzheimer's disease. This return to my roots aimed to revive his memories, while anchoring my own in a shared past now erased.
