Sea ghost
Inspired by my underwater photographs, my project, entitled "Sea Ghost," explores the marine world and its creatures through its shapes and colors. The goal was to extend this marine atmosphere while further developing the coil-wound technique. My work depicts a frogfish, an animal with a non-hydrodynamic body and atypical characteristics, far from the classic appearance of fish. This fish, rather stocky and chubby, moves with the help of its pelvic and pectoral fins, which resemble small legs, allowing it to walk on the seabed. The colors and textures of its skin serve as camouflage, helping it blend into its environment. I accentuated the relief of the corals covering its body using appliqués made from terracotta molds. Some of these formations resemble stone or coral, while others imitate sponges or tunicates, sometimes covered with algae. This camouflage makes these species difficult to spot during dives, requiring patience and a keen eye to be able to spot them.
