Amphora
Guided by my passion for scuba diving and my commitment to ocean preservation, I came up with the idea of creating a replica of an ancient amphora, inspired by those I sometimes see buried near shipwrecks, forgotten vestiges of ancient civilizations. Made of ceramic, this amphora is covered with coral, evoking its long sleep underwater and the passage of time. An emblematic domestic object of Mediterranean antiquity, the amphora was used to transport essential products such as wine, oil, and beer. Through this project, I wanted to transform this utilitarian object into a symbol of fragility: coral—a delicate and endangered botanical—here becomes a covering material, echoing the need to protect marine life. The aged, bleached surface bears the marks of a fictional immersion, but its message is very real.
